A New Thread to Try

Missouri Star Quilt Company is selling their own brand of thread.

I ordered a few spools last week and they arrived yesterday.

The thread colors in theTrusty Trio are black, white and ivory.

I am very interested in using the ivory, which looks like a very light silver to my eyes.

I ordered a brown cotton called Nestles and

a Burgandy polyester for embroidery work.

I wanted the Summer edition of Block to add to my quilting library.

I want to make the Summer in the Park quilt using the Island Batiks in my collection.

What I like about Block are the short narrative stories about life with the Doans.

I took advantage of a sale at Accuquilt and purchased

the die for Blazing Star.

I am thinking of Christmas gifts using this pattern.

I would not cut these pieces by hand, so this block would never have been made.

But this will be so much better.

I got the 6" mat in order to cut one shape out of a multi shaped die.

I saw a video about this so the larger mats don't get cut marks where no fabric is placed.

It will save my larger mats.

Have a bit of tidying to do and the AQS show to attend before I begin these projects.

My Actual Day to Post Opposites Attract and Giveaway

Today is my day to post in the

Thanks to Marian at Seam To Be Sew who organized this blog hop.

She has so many ideas on how to get quilters involved with each other via the internet.

Also thanks to the sponsors who supplies giveaways to this event.

We were to design a block using 2 colors.

I saw the block in a quilt book I was looking at and decided to use it.

I didn't have much time left in May to make a large project.

I made one block and decided to make a table mat to give as a Christmas gift this December.

I drew the block in EQ7.

I made a few layouts and realized this block was used to make the Storm at Sea quilt.

I wanted to use my Accuquilt GO! Cutter with the Triangle in a Square die.

I do not have a die for the 4" finished Half Square Triangles in the corners, so I cut them myself.

(I have this on my wish list.)

The center baffled me for a moment. I printed the templates from EQ7.

The center square I cut with a rotary cutter, but the triangles in the corners could be cut with the triangles in the Economy die that came with the cutter. That helped save time.

Opposites Attract Quilt Block and Giveaway

I am participating in the Opposites Attract Blog Hop hosted by Marian of Seams To Be Sew HERE.

We were to design a quilted item using a block design of only 2 colors. I saw this block in a quilting book I was looking through and decided to make it.

I had just enough time in my month to get one block sewn and decided it would be a small table mat to give as a Christmas gift. It measures 12" square.

I used the Accuquilt 4" finished Triangle Square die. I did not have a 4" finished Half Square Triangle die, so I had to cut the corner triangles myself (but it is on my wish list).

For the center 4" Square in a Square I used the EQ7 template print out. I found that the green corner triangles could be cut with the Economy die that came with my Go! Cutter...that helped.
