So if you are not familiar with a faced binding, I found a few places on the internet to learn about them and how to add them onto quilts.
Terry Aske Art Quilt Studio has a very nice write up on how this is done and discoveries she has made for easiness.
Debbie has a YouTube video on how she does facings so they look like binding on the back.
SewCanShe has a completely different methods.
I have learned 3 different was to face a quilt, such a selection!
I think this technique would be great to use on wallhangings. Adding a binding places another element on the front of the quilt. This technique allows the quilt to shine on its own.

I've done this a couple of times. It works well for art quilts regardless of size. Off now to read how everyone else does it.
