Winter Wonderland Project and Pattern Special

My Island Batik Winter Wonderland project for this month is finished. 

I had a preview photo on my Facebook page last week showing the two colors of gorgeous Island Batik fabric I was using for this project.

This project involved some sewing, weaving, and a lining.

This is a pattern I wrote and published 3 years ago. 

I decided to revisit it and revise it. 

I won't leave you wondering any longer. 

It's a CHRISTMAS STOCKING!

I've had a great time with this pattern.

I have made it using Christmas fabrics, 

the university colors for my niece and nephew,

and this year, the gorgeous Island Batik fabrics I used are close to 

the colors of the university that our youngest daughter attended. 

I think she will like this gift.

(But before I give it to her, I am entering it into the Christmas Stocking Contest 

at the local quilt store, The New Ewe.)

Wof B Block

I finished the Welcoming Hand block last night. I think I may have gone a bit overboard on the coloring. Maybe I should have kept it simple with 3 colors. But I like the block. 

I also made 5 more microwave cozies which include eyeglasses, fish and Noah's Ark. 

Quilt Shoppe classes include the Mug Rug Social and Free Motion and Line Quilting. Looking forward to the day.

A Little Time to Rest

The Blog Hop was fantastic. Even I learned some new things from the other bloggers. I hope each of you learned something. 

I have had a long week with many things happening, not just the blog hop. I think tonight I am going to sit and read a magazine or begin a short book.

I did get the final samples done for the November and December classes I will be teaching at The New Ewe. I am continuing with the Mug Rug Social- a free event with ideas and a product to help those of us who quilt or craft. The November Mug Rug is a Dresden Fan Turkey with applique. (I added a binding after I took this photo and forgot to take one final photo: 

I have the December Mug Rug in my brain, but not yet begun. It is a braided, bias strip wreath, plus a little extra. I will post soon. 

I am excited about the Kitchen Trio with a potato bag, potholder, and bowl cozie. 

And finally, I will be teaching my own CLP pattern: Rings Placemat Set. It should be fun.

Another Applique Block and More. . .

First, the next Autumn Applique Animal Block that I designed is this little crow. I thought with the corn being harvested, a crow might be worthy of an applique. My New Pattern Announcement!

I got word from Cut Loose Press that my first pattern is ready for print! I am so excited. They said they would release the information on the Checker website later on Tuesday, October 22! Yeah! I am doing a happy dance. I will post a photo tomorrow.

Teaching Samples in Progress
The next newsletter for The New Ewe is being drafted. I have been working on the class samples. One class is Kitchen Trio a microwave bowl cozie, a potholder, and a microwave heating pouch (AKA: Potato Bag, Corn Bag, etc.). These were easy and fun to make. I am still working on a casserole/tablerunner combo and two months of mug rug patterns. 

"Four in Art" Challenge Progress

I have the applique portion of my 12" square piece done and am ready to begin the quilting. I bought heavier hand quilting thread to use. I will do a test sample to see how it works in the sewing machine with a larger needle. If not, I will be hand quilting!

I have been inspired by Elizabeth's postings regarding our year-long theme of "Urban" with our first quarter focus on "Maps." I have not posted any photos yet. I am a new member of this group and I do not know what I would or should post. I will take photos prior to quilting for posting.

Progress on Projects

POP: That could be the acronym for this post.
I have a few photos of projects I have worked on in between all my other tasks. 
I finished four mug rugs for a craft show. I have quite a few other things to make before November 16. It is at the church and it is the first time I have considered having a table. I will see how it goes. While it is not a juried craft show, I would like to have a variety of well-made items.

I used some scraps for these, with the backs being pieces cut from yardage. These were the simpler ones. The slightly more elaborate mug rugs are in the next few weeks. And I hope to have our oldest daughter who is at home with us help out.

Quilt Guild Show is over

The Tall Pine Quilters Guild had a wonderful quilt show on Friday and Saturday. This was the first big show we have had in 11 years. We had 463 people come to the show. There are about 70 members in the guild and we had over 225 beautiful quilts on display, a quilt appraiser (one of our long-time members),12 vendors and raffle prizes every 2 hours. I was able to spend a few hours viewing all the quilts on Friday and worked at various jobs today. The committee that worked on this event did a fantastic job of organizing the displays, advertising, and laying out the timeline and schedules. 


The importance of a blog schedule:
While searching for information on how to add a comment counter to my blog (which I still have not really been able to find or understand), I found a blog telling of the importance of a consistent posting schedule. It gave me something to consider. I know my schedules change from day to day and week to week depending upon the needs of others. But I now understand how those of you who follow my blog (or any blog), and those who I hope will begin following it, come to depend upon consistency in posting. So....

This coming week, the establishment of a regular schedule will begin with (Drum roll....):

the Autumn Animal Applique Blog Hop. I participated in one of one of  Bea's other blog hops, and this one I know will be enjoyable. There is a grand giveway from EQ--an EQ7 program for the one lucky winner who visits us during the week.

New Fabric Aquisition: 
The quilt show clean-up was complete. I left and took a side trip to The New Ewe (one of the show vendors and the store where I teach) to see what might be new. Well, I spotted a bolt of fabric I had not seen. But the date shows it has been there for months. Where it was hiding I do not know. I have a hankering to work on another Stack-N-Whack quilt. So I bought enough to do an 8-layer Stack N Whack. Of course, I had to find something to go with it because, like many of you, I just do not have the right colors in my stash to work with. Here is a photo of what I bought. Blue is my favorite color. I realized that years ago, when I sorted my fabrics by colors and my stack of blues was 3 times more than any other color?!
